the ama are just super cool ladies! they go diving for abalone and oysters/pearls, using no air tanks at all. they keep diving into high age, being 80 years old and still diving is nothing unusual. here is a video where a few of them tell their story.

these are all statues of jizō, a buddhist monk that is mostly seen as the guardian of the souls of children that died before their parents. these little napkins the statues wear are brought by the grieving parents. sometimes you’ll also see little toys or pinwheels, all dedicated to the children and to help jizō protect them. in some cases these things are put down at the statues by parents who thank him when their child has survived a serious illness.

Tokyo Ramen street (東京ラーメンストリト) - First avenue - Tokyo.
8 awesome Ramen shops in one street, we had time to kill waiting for a bus ride out of Tokyo, so we hit the Rokurinsha Tokyo wich always has a monster que outside, even for the breakfast menu.
The 35 minute wait was worth every noodle!
